3 x METRONOMY
With their new album // Summer 08 // due out July 1st, British wonky pop group
:: METRONOMY ::
have released a few previews, so let's ease into a sound reminiscent of Goldfrappe,
by starting with the audio for // Hang Me Out to Dry // before trying out // Old
Skool // fittingly titled given the premise of looking backwards engendered by
the album's name. Is that little skip a beat meant to be there 15 secs in? Old
swapped for new works in an accomplished production that has a slight
resemblance to Scissor Sisters, so I'm sold. Rounding out the triple set is
// Night Owl // and I am plunged into "No! Don't go there!" in a song with
a strong 80's feel, as waves of pseudo-Beatles nostalgia blend into an
amalgamation of meh, but even with the old school fade out, I already
know this track is going to be a favorite with many.
